Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team



The Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team is comprised of deputies who are specifically trained to handle high-risk situations such as tactical building entries, capturing barricaded subjects, hostage situations and the serving of high risk warrants. Team members train on a regular basis to maintain a high level of readiness in order to respond to difficult situations. The S.E.R.T. team utilizes special tactics to diffuse dangerous and potential life threatening situations.

 

 

Members of the S.E.R.T. are selected from the ranks of the Sheriff’s Office. Team members must be proficient in weapons and tactics and must by team oriented. Team members attend training concerning emergency response tactics to dangerous situations, as well as high-risk warrant service entries. Team members also attend several other schools, including; Firearms Instructor, Less Lethal and Chemical Munitions, Active Shooter, Advanced Firearms and Advanced Tactical Training.


 

All members of the team are experienced in the use of specialty weapons and equipment and they train regularly in the use of team equipment and tactics to maintain proficiency. Some members are former military and other has been court certified as experts in their fields.
